Difficult surfaces

Vinyl

A practical embroidery needle starting point for this material.

Recommended needle

Microtex/sharp needle

Recommended size

75/11–90/14

Why?

A slim, sharp point makes a clean penetration through the coated surface; the exact size depends on material thickness and thread weight.

Tips

  • Every penetration leaves a permanent hole, so avoid dense designs and unnecessary restitching.
  • Float rather than hoop if pressure would mark the surface.
  • Start with a fresh needle and replace it if stitches skip or thread begins to shred.
  • Test the complete setup on a scrap or hidden area before embroidering the final item.
