Stitch Quality

Uneven or inconsistent stitches

Check the symptom, then work through the fixes in order.

What you may see

  • Stitch length, tension or appearance varies through areas that should look consistent.
  • The problem may come and go as the hoop changes direction.

Likely causes

  • Upper thread is catching or feeding unevenly from the spool.
  • Threading, needle condition or bobbin feed is inconsistent.
  • Fabric or stabiliser is bouncing in the hoop.
  • Machine speed is too high for the material or thread.
  • The design contains irregular or overly short stitches.

Try this

  1. 1Check that the spool turns or feeds freely and the thread follows every guide.
  2. 2Rethread the machine, reseat the bobbin and install a fresh needle.
  3. 3Check hooping and stabilisation for movement or fabric lift.
  4. 4Reduce speed and run a small test design.
  5. 5Compare another known-good design to separate setup issues from digitising issues.
  6. 6Seek service if inconsistent stitches occur across all designs after setup checks.

Prevention tips

  • Use a thread stand for spools that do not feed well from the machine pin.
  • Support large hoops and heavy items so they move freely.
  • Test unfamiliar thread and fabric combinations before production.
